Baby it's cold outside . . . we all know that song and have been thinking if not saying it for many weeks now. We've barely recovered from the holidays and a lot of people are coughing, sniffing and even worse! It's a good excuse to not exercise. But I have been told that when it's cold and I don't feel like doing anything but wrapping in a blanket . . . I should take the time to work out.
I have read that one week without exercise increases fatigue by up to 20%. After 2 weeks of no exercise, signs of depression may start. As an "emply nester" we are finding more room in our house and more time on our hands, so we have cleaned out one of the rooms in our basement and are starting out slowly. . . but we are trying to make "working out" part of our routine.
Just wanted to encourage you to do something - as my doctor told me, even 5 minutes of walking up and down the stairs is better than doing NOTHING. If we're going to be the best in our field - we have to be physically and mentally there too!
